In the previous years, the medical and dental exams were held separately. About seventy to eighty thousand students attend the medical admission exam each year but only the students who do the best in the exam get admitted.

Timeline of Medical Admission Exam

The admission test for medical colleges will take place on 2 April 2024 and the dental admission test will take place on 9 May 2024. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Ministry of Health, chaired by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque. The results of the 2020-21 medical admission will be published on 5th April 2024.

The online application for medical admission will begin on 11th February 2024 and will run until 1 March 2024. Interested applicants should fill-in and submit their applications in due time. Students are also advised to study and prepare accordingly as the medical admission exam can be very challenging for many.

Mark Distribution for Medical Admission Exam

If you wish to be accepted to a medical course, you would have taken part in the 100-mark MCQ test. You’re expected to answer them within 1 hour. Here, the pass mark is 40 numbers, but you will only be securing a position in the list of students who passed. For any wrong answer in the written MCQ test, 0.25 numbers will be deducted from your total points.

The test will include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, General Knowledge (Bangladesh History and Culture), and international subjects. The marks distribution for each subject is given below:

• Biology – 30 Marks
• Chemistry – 25 Marks
• Physics – 20
• English – 15
• General Knowledge – 6 Marks
• International – 4 Marks

Important Information Regarding the Number of Seats

There are only a limited number of seats available in all the medical colleges combined. Students, therefore, must prepare to take part in a highly competitive exam to secure admission into one of the medical colleges. The number of medical colleges and the seats available are given below.
